3 bank staffers booked for fraud

Nagpur: On a complaint filed by 23-year-old Raghav Singhal, Rana Pratap Nagar police have booked three bank employees for allegedly fraudulently withdrawing 18.50 lakh from the complainant's father's bank account. Singhal claimed in his complaint that three alleged accused, identified as Ranjeet Yadav and Anil Sharma, both employees of Bank of India, and Kush Mukherjee of Bank of India, Kolkata, had withdrawn the cash from his father's account without giving prior information. Singhal has even claimed that there was no alert message from the bank on his cell phone about the withdrawal. Rana Pratap Nagar police have registered a case.

Youth abused, assaulted

Two youths attacked 21-year-old Robot Rathod with stones over an old rivalry on Tuesday evening. Rathod, a resident of Tekdi Line, had gone to recharge his cell phone at a nearby shop when the two accused identified as Pintu Saudiya and Lokesh Saudiya abused him and pelted stones at him, causing several injuries on the body. Sitabuldi police have registered a case against the two youths.

Bookie arrested, one flees during raid

In a raid on a betting racket, crime branch police have arrested Salman Sheikh, 23, while betting on the one-day cricket match between South Africa and New Zealand at Somwari Quarters on Wednesday.

Police said that the house belonged to Akram Sheikh and he was also involved in the betting. However, before police reached the spot, Akram had fled away. Police said Sheikh was conducting the betting through cell phones that were connected to many people. Cops have seized a television and other material worth 1.05 lakh.
